Most advice written for family caregivers quietly assumes a reader who has time to research. Compare facilities. Understand the benefit. Have the conversation early. That reader is a minority of one in five. The rest got a phone call.

This reframes what a first-day tool has to do. Not teach a system — orient someone inside one they are already standing in, at an hour they did not choose. The average onset age is 34, which means the person taking that call is often mid-career, mid-mortgage, with a child under 14 in the next room.
