What a member sees
A 90-day outlook, refreshed about once a month
This is a sample. Margaret is a composite, not a real family. Yours is built from your loved one’s actual situation and updated as things change.
Sample Care Graph
Margaret, 84, your mother, lives alone, early dementia, one fall in July
Where things stand
Margaret is still managing at home, but the fall changed the question from whether she needs help to how soon. Her memory is worse in the evenings, the pill organizer is not always right, and you are the only one checking. The next ninety days are about getting eyes in the house before the next event, not after it.
What’s likely coming
Next 2 weeks · Daily management
The medication slip becomes a medical problem
Missed or doubled doses show up as confusion or dizziness, which looks like the dementia getting worse and sends you to the ER for the wrong reason.
First move. Move the pills into a locked timer dispenser and ask the pharmacy to blister-pack the rest. Ten minutes, one phone call.
Next 30 days · Care team
The first paid help conversation, and the pushback
Two hours of home care twice a week is the usual first step after a fall, and the usual first answer from a proud parent is no. It lands better as help for you than help for her.
First move. Ask your Area Agency on Aging for the in-home assessment. It is free, it comes from a stranger, and it is not you saying she cannot cope.
By day 90 · Paperwork
The power of attorney window narrows
Signing needs her to understand what she is signing. Early dementia is when that is still clearly true. Waiting turns a form into a court process.
First move. Book the elder law appointment this month, and bring her regular doctor's most recent note.
Watch for
- Evening phone calls that repeat the same question, a sign the day is getting long for her.
- Unopened mail or a bill paid twice. Money is usually the first thing to slip.
- Your own sleep. If you are waking to check your phone, the plan needs another person in it.
