The Agenda Nobody Reads

The federal government held a summit on dementia care in March and has now published what it decided to study next. The list runs long. Heterogeneity of people living with dementia. Caregiver relationships and networks. Financial burden and out-of-pocket costs. Workforce. Technology to support people with dementia and their caregivers.

None of it helps a family this week. That is not a criticism, it is what a research agenda is. Funding follows these lines for years, and the interventions a caregiver will be offered in 2030 are being chosen now, in a document almost no caregiver will ever open.

Worth noticing where things sit. Technology is one line among twelve, and it lands after terminology and stigma. The people building tools for caregivers are further down the priority order than they think.
