AI Dementia-Caregiver Training Could Cut ER Visits

The right kind of AI help

"AI for caregivers" usually means a chatbot that listens. This is something narrower and more useful: stage-specific coaching that tells a family caregiver what to do when the person they're caring for stops eating, or gets up at night, or won't take a pill — the moments that otherwise end in a 2am drive to the ER because nobody knew the alternative.

The claim worth watching is the ER one. Fewer avoidable emergency visits isn't a vanity metric; it's the difference between a managed bad night at home and a $3,000 bill plus a confused dementia patient on a gurney under fluorescent lights. If the evidence bears out, this is the shape AI help should take for caregivers: not company, but a specific answer at the specific moment you're too tired to think.
