The Test Exists, The Coverage Doesn't

The test costs fifty to a hundred dollars out of pocket. Medicare will not pay for it, because Medicare classifies it as screening rather than diagnosis, and screening is the category that does not get covered.

The science works, the FDA cleared two tests in 2025, one of them rules Alzheimer's out with a ninety percent negative predictive value, and roughly half of the seven million Americans who have the disease do not know it. This is the side a family actually hits, and it is not the sensitivity number, it is the front desk. A doctor who has read the guideline, a test that exists, and a bill nobody warned them about. The bipartisan ASAP Act would build the coverage pathway. Until it moves, an earlier diagnosis is available to the families who can absorb a hundred dollars and invisible to the ones who cannot.
